The top junior golfers from around the state made the trip to Innisbrook Resort for the 67th Boys’ Junior Amateur Championship.
The 67th Boys' Junior Championship began with 168 players competing on the Island and Copperhead Courses at Innisbrook.
Nicholas Prieto and Phillip Dunham sat at the top of the leaderboard after the first round.
Prieto fired a 5-under 66 to take the lead in the 16-18 division, while Dunham finished the first round at 1-over 73 to move to the top of the 13-15 division.
After Tropical Storm Elsa rolled through, the second round saw player fighting their way up the leaderboard.
It Prieto and Matvey Golovanov who held the top on the leaderboard after the second round.
The final round saw players battling to add their name to the Boy' Junior trophy.
The weather and Innisbrook Resort proved to be a tough test, but it was Prieto and Golovanov who came out on top at the 67th Boys’ Junior Amateur Championship.
“It means a lot. This is one of the biggest championships of the year and it’s the one you work hard for. The best junior in Florida coming out to compete on a tough course. To pull through and get the win is really amazing.”
“It’s such a great event, with a great field and a lot of history. It’s the state title, so it so great to win such a big event.”
